From several metres away a viewer only has a second or two to take in your message, so I build each banner around one main idea and let it lead. I keep the hierarchy simple, use strong contrast so the words stay legible outdoors, and crop images so the focus reads instantly. When a project belongs to an established brand, I work within the client brand guidelines so the banner sits naturally alongside everything else they produce.
Large format banner for Hotel Aloft by Marriott Aberdeen
Thanks to my collaboration with Farsight, I had the opportunity to design a large format banner for Hotel Aloft by Marriott Aberdeen. The banner was installed at the entrance to Aberdeen airport, so it needed to work at a large scale and be readable from a moving car. The design is entirely my own work: within the client brand guidelines, I built it around one strong lifestyle photograph, bold typography and graphic waves that add movement, so the whole piece stays clear from a long distance.

Roll up banner for AMS Beauty Academy
For AMS Beauty Academy I designed a roll up banner in their brand colours. It brings together what they offer, nails, injectables and massage, along with the treatments their courses cover, into one cohesive graphic. It stands in their studio and doubles as a branded backdrop, where students take their photos at the end of each course.
